Even Realities G2: camera-free smart glasses, but for whom?
A display in both lenses, no camera, 36 grams: Even Realities G2 takes the opposite approach to Ray-Ban Meta. What it does well, its limits and who it is for.

Even Realities G2 is among the most searched-for smart glasses of the moment. What sets it apart: it shows information in front of your eyes but has no camera. A choice that makes it very different from Ray-Ban Meta.
What it does
A small, very bright monochrome display (up to 1,200 nits) appears in both lenses. It is used to:
- translate a conversation as subtitles, in dozens of languages;
- prompt you with a text, like a teleprompter, during a presentation;
- guide you on foot with navigation;
- show notifications, calendar and lists;
- talk with an AI assistant, which can also help during a conversation.
The strengths
- Discretion: around 36 g and a look very close to ordinary glasses.
- Privacy: without a camera, nobody around you wonders whether they are being filmed.
- Battery life: around two days quoted, and a case that recharges it several times.
- Prescription: prescription lenses are offered as an option.
The limits
- No photos or videos: impossible to capture a memory at eye level.
- No speaker: no music or calls in the temples.
- An AI that cannot see: it cannot identify what you are looking at.
- The price: it sits at the premium end, and both the prescription and the R1 control ring cost extra.
- Availability: it is not officially sold everywhere, which complicates the warranty if you import it.
Even G2 or Ray-Ban Meta?
| Criterion | Even Realities G2 | Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Display | Yes, both lenses | No |
| Camera | No | Yes, 12MP, 3K video |
| Music and calls | No | Yes |
| AI assistant | Yes, without vision | Meta AI, with vision |
| Ideal use | Work, translation, teleprompter | Everyday life, leisure, travel, sport |
Who is it for?
Even G2 suits people who want to read information without taking out their phone: speakers, salespeople, business travellers. For broader use, with photos, music, calls and an AI that sees what you see, Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta remain more versatile.
