Lunettes connectées
Smart glasses with a display: the 2026 guide

After camera glasses, the trend is towards smart glasses with a display (lunettes connectées avec écran). But this term covers four very different approaches.
1. A small colour display in one lens: Meta Ray-Ban Display
Meta Ray-Ban Display shows messages, directions, translations and Meta AI answers in the right lens, in colour. It keeps a 12MP camera and is controlled with a wristband that picks up hand gestures. It has been available in France, Germany and Italy since 13 October 2026, at the premium end. Switzerland is not yet included.
2. A monochrome display in both lenses, without a camera
This is the route of discretion and privacy:
- Even Realities G2: around 36 g, green display in both lenses, neither camera nor speaker. Our full opinion: Even Realities G2, for whom?
- MemoMind One: the newcomer from Xgimi, with two very bright micro-LED displays, built-in speakers and still no camera. Details in our round-up of new releases.
Ideal for subtitle translation, teleprompting, navigation and notifications.
3. True augmented reality in colour: RayNeo X3 Pro
RayNeo X3 Pro has two very bright colour displays, two cameras, the Snapdragon AR1 chip and Google's Gemini AI. It is the closest thing to consumer augmented reality, but in a premium price range and with short battery life under heavy use.
4. Display glasses for films and games
The Xreal One Pro and RayNeo Air 4 Pro show a large Full HD virtual screen. They plug via USB-C into a phone, a PC or a console and are not worn in the street. They are perfect for cinema or gaming on the move: see Playing PS5 with AR glasses.
The summary
| Use | Display type | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Messages and AI in colour | One lens, colour | Meta Ray-Ban Display |
| Translation, teleprompter, discretion | Both lenses, monochrome | Even G2, MemoMind One |
| Augmented reality | Both lenses, colour | RayNeo X3 Pro |
| Films and games | Giant virtual screen, wired | Xreal One Pro, RayNeo Air 4 Pro |
Do you really need a display?
For most people, not necessarily. Glasses without a display such as Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta already do the essentials: photos, videos, music, calls and voice AI. They are also lighter, last longer and cost less.
